Everyone is Welcome! We are thrilled to have you! Our programs—from the classroom to the deep wilderness—are designed to be inclusive, welcoming adventurers of all backgrounds, ages, and body types. To help us ensure you have a safe and successful experience:
Help Us Support You. Communication is key. Please share any medical conditions, allergies, or physical considerations with us prior to arrival. This includes food preferences and mental health considerations, such as anxiety or high-stress triggers. Whether it’s a knee that acts up on hills or a specific health history, knowing in advance helps our instructors and guides provide the best possible support.
Activity Levels: Participants are responsible for meeting the physical demands of their specific program. For field-based courses where definitive medical care may be delayed, honesty about your comfort level is essential for group safety.
Attire & Equipment: For safety in active programs, specific attire or equipment may be required. We are happy to discuss gear solutions that respect your personal needs while meeting our safety standards.
Shared Responsibility: Safety is a collective responsibility. All participants must follow staff instructions and sign a Liability Release Waiver. A parent or guardian must sign for minors.
Included: Instruction, permits, certifications, and course materials.
Excluded: Prerequisites, personal gear, airfare, and Trip Insurance.
Check your itinerary for specifics on group gear, meals, transportation, or lodging.
First-Come, First-Served: Reservations are confirmed only upon receipt of payment.
Trips & Standard Training: A 25% deposit is required to secure your space.
Hybrid & Online Training: Full payment is required to unlock access to online content.
Due Date: Any outstanding balance is due 14 days prior to your start date.
Automatic Charging: If we have a credit card on file, it will be charged automatically for your outstanding balance on the due date.
Late Payment: If final payment is not received when due, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation.
More than 14 Days Notice: Cancellations submitted in writing via email more than 14 days prior to the start date are fully refundable to the original form of payment.
Within 14 Days of Start Date: All payments become non-refundable to the original form of payment. Cancellations submitted in writing via email within this window are eligible for a Cancellation Credit, less an administrative fee equal to 10% of the total booking price. This policy also applies to reservations cancelled by Far Out Maine, LLC due to non-payment.
Cancellation Credits: Reservations made using a Cancellation Credit are considered final. Should a re-booked trip be cancelled, the value is not eligible for further credit or refunds.
24-Hour Cutoff: No-shows or cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time are ineligible for a Cancellation Credit or refund.
Illness & Emergencies: We want our participants and staff to remain safe. If you are ill or have an emergency within 24 hours of your start time, please contact us immediately. While last-minute cancellations are generally ineligible for credit, Far Out Maine, LLC may, at its sole discretion, issue a Cancellation Credit for documented emergencies. Requests must be made prior to the start time.
Hybrid Exception: For hybrid courses, payments become non-refundable immediately upon the release of or access to online coursework, regardless of the date.
Substitutions: If a member of your group cannot attend, alternate participants are welcome, provided they meet all prerequisites and complete required waivers before the start date.
Unfilled Spots: If the space is not filled, any resulting credit follows the 14-day payment schedule above.
Private Bookings: For sliding-scale private bookings, a change in group size may modify the total cost; any resulting balance follows the 14-day payment schedule.
Participation does not guarantee certification. Full attendance and 100% participation are required for all course hours. Certificates are awarded only to those who meet all course requirements, demonstrate necessary skills, and pass required assessments. No refunds or Cancellation Credits will be issued for early withdrawal or failure to obtain certification.
Program Modifications: We reserve the right to modify or cancel programs due to safety concerns (e.g., weather, water levels). If we cancel, you may choose a full refund to your original payment method or a Cancellation Credit.
Force Majeure: In the event of a cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., forest fires, park closures, or state-mandated emergencies), we will issue a Cancellation Credit for the full value of the reservation.
Travel Expenses: We are not responsible for expenses incurred (e.g., airfare, gear) due to a cancelled trip or training; we highly recommend Trip Insurance.
Right of Dismissal: Far Out Maine, LLC reserves the right to dismiss any participant whose conduct or equipment is deemed unsafe, highly disruptive, or harmful to the reputation and ongoing operations of the company. In the event of dismissal, no refund or Cancellation Credit will be issued.
We cannot insure your investment in outdoor adventure reservations. We strongly recommend the purchase of third-party Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance to protect your booking.
