Aaron's Story

"Some of my favorite and most memorable times from childhood were being on the water and fishing. I grew up in Southern Maine where my home waters were the Saco River and the Presumpscot River and its tributaries.

"In 2013, I got a job working at Sunday River Ski Resort, which brought me to the Bethel area. My plan was to stay for one winter season and return to the coast, but I hadn't yet discovered what western Maine had to offer. Upon finding seemingly endless opportunities for fishing and canoeing, I decided to stay.

"It didn't take long after that for me discover guiding opportunities in the Bethel area. I got a job with an outfitter in Errol N.H., where I learned to be a guide in the outdoors. I guided whitewater trips on the Rapid, Magalloway and Androscoggin Rivers, and I led nature tours around Lake Umbagog. These trips were very rewarding for me, and the best part was that I could usually sneak some casts in while I was working. I worked there until the company closed in 2020.

"I still work at Sunday River as a ski patroller in the winter and chainsaw operator in the summer. A few years ago, I added fishing and recreation to my Maine Guide's License, and I am excited to make guiding part of my life again. I can't wait to get out on the water with you, whether it's a casual float down the river or a focused effort to have the best fishing day."
