Traverse the many peaks of Mount Bigelow while enjoying views of storied Flagstaff Lake and the rest of the Rangeley-Stratton Mountain Range.
This 16-mile, 3-day backpacking trip begins on the eastern end of the Bigelow Preserve, in Dead River Township. You will see some of the most scenic vistas in Maine as you tackle challenging terrain, all while carrying food and supplies on your back. Take in the sights and sounds of nature, and enjoy creative trail meals prepared for you by our staff. On the third day, we will come out of the woods in Coplin Plantation, just south of the Stratton village in Eustis.
This trip is NOT recommended for novice backpackers. We will hike rugged terrain! Our 3-day itinerary allows us to spread out the miles, moving at a reasonable pace and taking time to enjoy the many beautiful views.
